5. Prepare a personal emergency route plan:

Plan emergency escape route in your residence.

Have at least 2 safety exits and a specific meeting place outside the residence that the entire family is aware to meet (ie: light pole near the neighbor’s house).

Plan emergency meeting place if everyone is not at home (ie: a flood occurs and closes main roads that lead to the residence, so everyone automatically knows to meet at Park A and if Park A is inaccessible, then Park B is the next alternative).

Sometimes the cell phone towers will be done or heavily congested of airway traffic, so the best alternative is to have an outside the county or state main person as emergency contact to be able to reassure each family member in an emergency to confirm everyone’s whereabouts (ie: Grandma lives out of state or county and everyone in the current emergency calls Grandma and she keeps track of each family members’ whereabouts who are in an emergency disaster and can confirm to other family members of the safety or whereabouts of other family members.

AFTER the emergency has been maintained or safe to leave the safety area, FIND ONE ANOTHER using the assistance of the EMERGENCY OUT OF COUNTY OR STATE MAIN CONTACT PERSON to reassure and confirm other family members’ whereabouts. ALSO–if there is connection using telephone, call and confirm with that specific loved one(s) and follow up the next set of plans (where to meet up if it’s Location A, B, etc) AS LONG AS YOU WILL BE PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY SAFE, then continue to proceed as planned.

6. Prepare parents’ emergency medical plan:

Prepare all medical paperwork and have all necessary notarized alongside any insurances. Have a copy of their current medications as well as the list of current medical physicians and medical agencies that are included in their insurance.
